REGENERATION AT PORT WAIKATO

A Port Waikato man and his family are starting to see an environmental transformation on their block of steep hill country with the help of Waikato River Authority funding. John Missen, together with friends, family and hired workers have planted 120,000 native plants over three years on what was once an uneconomic sheep and beef farm. As well increasing the biodiversity on the land, the project is seeing a rapid return of endangered fish species in the streams.
